Windswell Kitesurfing presents the first Annual Invitational Kind of the North (KON)

15 Kitesurf foilers and 15 standard style Kitesurfers will start at the Southern end of Four Mile Beach, race out to the Low Isles on the Great Barrier Reef and return on a reciprocal course. On the way back after kiting, the amazing turquoise waters of the reef lagoon making way for the finish line at the Surf Club North End.

This event is held to raise awareness of the natural beauty and diversity of the REEF and its proximity to the mainland and the need to move away from COAL and FOSSIL FUELS and SWITCH to renewable energies like solar and WIND POWER.

The event is proudly supported by all of the following organisations, Douglas Shire Council, Marine Safety Queensland (Cairns Regional Harbour Master), Marine Parks, Low isles Caretakers, Low Isles Presevation Society, Kiteboarding Australia.

Local kitersurfer and Windswell owner Brett Wright first kitesurfed around Low Isles in 2003 and has taken a lucky select few back every year. Its an absolute dream run on a kite with South East Trades winds making for the the perfect angle to the wind and the swell, the average speed will be around 20 knots with the kite foilers reaching ever 30 knots.
